IP Telephony
Voice communications is where the rubber meets the road.
(Is there any tread left on your old phone system's tires?)
IP Telephony refers to the 'next generation' telephone systems you install in your business (also known as an "IP-PBX"). It is NOT the same as "VoIP".
Rather, an IP-PBX give you many benefits INSIDE your business, AND gives you the option of connecting your outside calls either through traditional means (like Bell Canada), OR through VoIP services as provided by an Internet Telephone Service Provider (ITSP).
For more information on Internet Telephone Services (VoIP), see VoIP.
So What, and Who Cares?
Good questions. In fact, there are many good questions to ask, and DigiVie can help you get the answers. Give us a call, and we will happily come and show you what we are talking about. This stuff can be game-changing for your business, and even if it turns out it doesn't make sense for you now, we are here to help you make that choice in your own best interest.
What's the difference - isn't a phone just a phone?
Maybe. Depending on what your business does, an IP-PBX may not make sense. For the past 100 years or so, telephone technology has basically remained the same - pick up a phone, call a number, and someone answers on the other end. Big deal.
The game has changed, and businesses are realizing they can do MORE, and do it BETTER and FASTER than their competitors by leveraging this new-fangled IP-PBX technology.
The benefits show up in several ways:
- Your phones will interact with your computers
- press a button in your contact manager to dial a number
- Get screen-pops for inbound calls
- See call logs for who called you, and call back with a click of a mouse
- Instant messaging with your peers
- 'Chat' with your co-workers to get time-sensitive information so you can close a deal, while they are on the phone closing another deal
- Did that just pay for the phone system?
- 'Chat' with your co-workers to get time-sensitive information so you can close a deal, while they are on the phone closing another deal
- Presence - Show others if your busy, in a meeting, on lunch, not available, etc.
- Know where your people are
- Get RID of the In/Out board
- Don't waste time calling someone if they're on the phone
- Call Handling Rules
- Route calls to your cell phone when you're out for lunch
- Send calls directly to voicemail when you're in a meeting
- Call Detail Reports
- See where, when, who, and how-long the phones are being used
- Call-Recording - record sensitive calls (trades, etc.) or conference calls
- IVR - automated call processing with back-end data
- Branch Offices
- Link offices around the world TOLL FREE
- Utilize all of the above as ONE harmonized system
- And Many More...
